Thank you for your interest in the shooting sports! Venturing Crew 790 has secured an FNRA grant to host this event.

Location: Practice Range (past Station 12), Coyote Valley Sporting Clays, 1000 San Bruno Ave, Morgan Hill, CA 95037

Date: Saturday, Sept. 1, 2012.

Start time: 9:00 AM

Open to: boys and girls, ages 11-18

Cost: Free to youth in the Gilroy, San Martin, and Morgan Hill areas.

Boy Scout Troop 792 will have lunch for sale.

This is an alcohol-free event.

The event will begin with a safety briefing, then the shoot, and then (while the scorecards are being tallied) a cleaning and maintenance demonstration.

Participants are divided into age groups; divisions will be based on years as well as the number of participants, so each age group has approximately the same number.

To each participant will be given 12 rounds of .22LR; two are for sighting in and ten are for targets.

Shots are from the prone position only.

The winning shooter of each age group will be determined by total score. Tiebreakers are the longest shots; for example, a {50, 30, 10} would beat a {40, 30, 20}.

The number of participants is limited; participation is on a FCFS (first come first served, by application receipt) basis.

Transfer of firearms must be to a parent or guardian at least 18 years of age who can legally receive said firearm in the state of California. If the minor may legally shoot but the parent is legally disqualified from ownership, please check the appropriate box on the minor's waiver.

The Scout Oath and Law apply to all behavior at this event.

All people present must

  • have eye and ear protection and
  • sign a [CVSC waiver]. For all minors attending, the parent or legal guardian must fill out the release form (waiver link above). So if the parent is not present, (s)he will have to fill out the waiver and send it with the child. (The child can not fill it out on his own. All yellow fields are parent information, and then the child's name is added in the paragraph under "LEGAL GUARDIAN'S CONSENT AND ACKNOWLEDGEMENT."
